Marcos Ambrose CTS Debut Put on Hold
Ambrose may miss early Craftsman Truck Series rounds.
Australian star and two time V8 Super Car Champion Marcos Ambrose will miss events at Daytona, California and Atlanta die to his rookie status and concerns for safety.
“It’s very high speed and NASCAR have a very strict criteria on who they let start those races,” Ambrose said on Thursday.“It’s a very high risk sport - there have been a few fatalities at Daytona over the last few years - they’re very particular on who they let on those racetracks.
“Regardless of the experience I’ve had around the world it’s very important I don’t jump in too soon and potentially really hurt myself.
“We’re working with them on that to decide what’s best for all of us.”
Although Ambrose said he had tested at Kentucky Motor Speedway and reached speeds of 190mph and also had done some short track testing the Wood Brothers Team, Ambrose and NASCAR officials decided to take the safe route and ease him into action.
If this plan holds he will make his first appearance at 1/2 mile Martinsville Speedway followed by Gateway International Speedway and the high speed oval at Charlotte, North Carolina.
It also means my choice of Ambrose as CTS ‘06 Rookie of the Year is in jeopardy.

Well what can I say to all my American friends, you had better get used to the carry on from this man he is pathetic…. Wait and see dont take my word for it….
Why did I know this post would attract the Ambrose haters?
Don’t worry Shawn, I won’t take your word for it. If the definition of “pathetic” is being a two-time V8 Champion I guess your correct.
But somehow I doubt even if the man wore a Halo you would still denigrate his performance wouldn’t you?
Congratulations to Marcos for making it over there. e is an extremely talented driver and a top bloke. I have met him on several occasions and every time he has been more than welcoming. Good luck Marcos hope all goes well mate.
