Martin, Marlin, Front Row Joe: Then What?

Bobby Ginn, new owner of MB2 Motorsports, with this weeks signing of veteran Mark Martin has assembled a three driver stable of Grey Beards. However the team does in 2007 no one can say any mistakes made along the way will be rookie mistakes.

Maybe Alzheimer’s mistakes, but not rookie ones. OH stop, I’m joking, I have great respect for all three drivers.

It shouldn’t be said Bobby Ginn isn’t afraid to think out of the box in looking for a future replacement for one the above. Would you believe (to steal Maxwell Smart’s line) Five-time Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael is expected to sign a development contract with MB2?

If true the deal will be announced today in Las Vegas at a scheduled 3 p.m new conference.

This rumor/story has floated around for a while, it first surfaced when he tested for Ray Evernham in August ‘05. The test was setup by Kasey Kahne in a Late Model owned by Evernham.

This latest story says Carmichael also tested this past July but I’ve been unable to find a record of which team he tested for.

Whatever the case, this is obviously a very long range project and not much should be expected for a couple years if anything ever comes of it.

BTW, Carmichael’s reported income as the best Supercross rider in history is a cool 8 million per year. That may drop down to say… six figures, or less.
