Mayfield Sues Step-Mother for Wrongful Death
Suspended NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his estranged stepmother over the 2007 death of his father.
The suit filed in North Carolina Superior Court does not allege how Lisa Mayfield was involved in her husband’s death. It only claims that her “intentional actions” played a direct role in Terry Mayfield’s death.
A police investigation determined Terry Mayfield died from a suicidal gunshot wound to the chest.
Question: How do you claim she had “intentional actions” but make no claim as to how she carried them out?
As we all know Mayfield is the first driver suspended under NASCAR’s toughened drug policy. His stepmother testified on behalf of NASCAR about seeing him use methamphetamines at least 30 times over the years. The single mistake NASCAR has made thus far in this process in my opinion.
Lisa is as radioactive as it gets and she never should have been consulted in thjis matter.

UPDATE: Nothing like dueling lawsuits announced in the same news cycle.
Arrington Manufacturing has sued suspended owner/driver Jeremy Mayfield for $71,000 in unpaid engine bills. Company owner Joey Arrington provided engines for Mayfield’s Toyota-based team for the spring Sprint Cup races at Phoenix, Talladega, Richmond, Darlington and Charlotte.
According to the complaint, Mayfield has paid for Phoenix and Talladega, but not for the other four events. Mayfield also is being sued by Triad Racing Technologies for unpaid bills of $86,304.

Marc….I also think the radioactive Lisa Mayfield is the only mistake NASCAR has made in the Jeremy Mayfield saga thus far.
As far as “intentional actions”….they were the only means Terry Mayfield had…to get away from these crazy loons and have some peace of mind….
Thanks, you one of the few who agree.
