MBNA 200 Qualifying Results

Martin Truex Jr., who has won four times in the Busch Series this year, has been less than stellar at Dover International Speedway, which the Mayetta, N.J., considers his home track. Truex has raced at Dover more than at any other track on the circuit, yet he has never finished in the top 10 here.

?Last year in this race, we ran in the top five throughout the day, but with two laps left, I got loose in turn one and around I went, backing the car into the wall. ? I?m more than confident we can have a great finish at Dover.?

David Green, who finished second in the points standings last year, won the pole for today?s MBNA America 200, averaging 157.916 mph in a Chevrolet.

In fact, the top three qualifiers drove Chevys, with Johnny Sauter (157.846 mph) and Jason Leffler (157.522) taking positions two and three on the grid. Kasey Kahne nailed down the outside position in the second row for Dodge at 157.398, followed by another Chevrolet driver, Ron Hornaday, at 157.377.

Also in the top 10 were Bobby Hamilton Jr. (157.281) and Jason Keller (157.068) in Fords, and Truex (157.013) and Joe Nemechek (157.013) in Chevrolets.

Among those deeper in the order were Kevin Harvick in 13th, Kyle Busch in 14th, Matt Kenseth in 22nd, Jamie McMurray in 23rd, Robby Gordon in 26th and Michael Waltrip in 33rd.
