Michael Schumacher is No “Iceman!”

Michael Schumacher is generally considered one of the best, if not the best, F1 chauffeurs ever.

His mastery when the clouds opened up and pelted the tarmac with rain drops were legendary.

When the temperature drops below 0 Centigrade, well… not so much. (and Kimi is far worse)

The event was held in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy and pitted Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa, Michael Schumacher, Mark Gene and Luca Badoer against each other in a Fiat 500 race held on snow & ice.

Note the slamming and banging. Also the very Midget/Sprint Car-like slide jobs pulled off.

The action really, ahem… heats up, after the mandatory pit stop.

(NOTE: the NZ Herald has posted selected quotes and a few still images of the race.)

  1. Ok it’s not the bespoke Andros ice racing with Ivan Mueller but it sure looks fun. Can you imagine trying to balance the throttle on that slippery surface.

  2. Andros? Talk about Schmi-like domination, if memory serves Yvan Muller has won that crown 9-10 times, more than any other driver.

  3. Yeah & the cars are heaps faster than this little PR stunt, absolute monsters on ice, Prost is another regular. Ivan Muller is my personal “should have been in F1 if talent was everything” driver. He was great in F3000. Pity he has been wasted in the castrated series that used to be the best touring car series in the world, the BTCC. He should be in the DTM. If memory serves they teamed him up with Craig Lowndes for Bathurst one year.

  4. As an aside Peter, I failed to respond to your email, but have to say… somehow I pictured you as a “Nimrod Explorer.”

Not to mention a potential shark sandwich.

How do you say “throw another Aussie on the barby when speaking in “shark?”

  5. Is this a pun at the “Americanised” version of the word Nimrod? if so…LOL. :-)
