The change of “clothes” is even earlier than expected and you will be wearing Miller Lite blue and a #2 for the 2006 season. All is “right” in Kurt Busch’s world.

NASCAR’s reigning champ was detained for drunk driving last night [Friday} south of Phoenix, but was eventually released with only a reckless driving citation.Maricopa County sheriff’s spokesman Lieutenant Paul Chagolla (cha-GOY’-ah) says Kurt Busch was driving a Ford Expedition about two miles from the Phoenix International Raceway when he had to swerve to avoid hitting a car in front of him and then ran a stop sign.
Chagolla says a deputy who had been following the S-U-V then stopped Busch, but he was uncooperative and refused to do field sobriety tests. He did agree to take a field breath test for alcohol, and was taken into custody for D-U-I after the hand-held device showed the presence of alcohol.
Busch was then taken to a sheriff’s facility at the track, but Chagolla says the breath test machine there failed. That’s when the deputy decided to cite him only for reckless driving and release him.
Busch was argumentative, and Chagolla says his behavior was - Quote - inflammatory.
Dumb ass! If I were Jack I’d yank his drunken ass out of his seat for Sunday, at least, and replace him with anyone I could find. I’d even stoop so low as to put Buckshot Jones in the #97 just to make a statement.
Two more questions: What will NASCAR do, “officially” Busch wasn’t drunk driving so what will the penalty be, if any? And secondly where does Kurt Busch’s true loyalities reside, was he drunk on Crown Royal or Miller Lite?
UPDATE: Looks like Jack Roush and I are on the same wace length. Kathy is reporting that Roush Racing has suspended Kurt Busch for the remainder of the season. Kenny Wallace takes his seat this weekend and Todd Kluever will drive the #97 at Homestead.

I have also met many cops that take pleasure in making the routine something more but I’ll bet this much: Busch had a bit too much to drink, ran into a cop who stopped a “big fish” and proceeded to display the same traits Busch has shown on occasion. Arrogance would head the list.
Legally NASCAR can’t do squat with a reckless driving charge so it will go away. But the incident sure will bring out the Busch haters in force. The blogs and forums will (Miller) Lite up like New Years at midnight.
