Ms. Danica Won’t Like This!
For anyone with the attention span above that of a two year old, Danica Patrick’s aversion to the looooong NASCAR season is well known, and one of her reasons for staying planted in the IndyCar Series. That and money. And the Indy 500. And a CCWS switch just wasn’t in the cards with Katherine over there. (Whose doing just fine BTW after her tumble this past weekend.)
You have to wonder with IndyCar adding events such as Twin Ring Motegi, located in the far reaches of the Western Pacific, if she’s had the slightest second thought.
Crossing America is like running to the 7/11 compared to the long flight between LaLa-land and Tokyo. I’ve made it too many times to count, it ain’t fun!
I guess Ms. Danica can look on the bright side. The airline lap belts won’t place her in “a constant state of excruciating pain and discomfort,” as her 6-point racing belts do.
Then there are the peanuts. They are always a plus!

Marc, this is a bad post for you because you’ve just made a large oversight. the Twin Ring Motegi race is not a new event, It’s been on the schedule ever since Honda has been in the IRL which is longer than Danica’s career in the IRL. Don’t you remember that Motegi was one of the 2 sights of her very impressive (note sarcasm) 4th place finishes of her rookie year? It was only announced that Motegi has been confirmed for next year. For whatever reason, the IRL doesn’t announce a full schedule all at once, they pretty much do it one at a time, or maybe a few givens at once. At this time, the IRL’s confirmed schedule is shorter than the short schedule of 06.
Oversight?
Who me? Not hardly “new” is in new as opposed to this year and next. It’s new for 2007 not new in the historical context of Twin Ring Motegi.
That should be clear now, it obviously wasn’t.
As a sidenote, during my time in Japan (7 years) as part of the World’s Greatest Navy I attended the NASCAR 1998 event won by Mike Skinner and when Dale Sr. and Dale Jr first competed against one another.
Also of interest is Motegi has a driving school set-up like the Petty Experiance and a few others.
I spent my hard earned cash three times driving the big oval in a Checy Lumina and twice in a 500hp Sprint Car on the 1/4 mile dirt track that is also part of the complex.
