Oops… problem corrected.
Gvav up there reiterates what I wrote about last summer. This continuing “fued” between the two is probably making Dale roll over.
Dale always said he wanted what’s best for Junior. If that’s DEI, it’s DEI. If it’s RCR, it’s RCR.
I’d put a lot of money on Jr being happy there, no doubt about it. You know a sponsor wouldn’t be an issue. So the only real issue is what Jr wants. If DEI can’t get it done, so be it. RCR can, and would continue to do so.
I don’t think a move to something other than RCR would be “smart”, and I can’t personally see it happening. But, what a coincidence that RCR is looking to step up to a 4 horse stable in 2008. Hmmm…
I’ll never discount Jr moving elsewhere until he actually signs to stay at DEI, I’ll offer this:
I could see Jr with financial backers getting a package together to buy DEI and push Theresa aside. There isn’t a doubt in my mind it could happen from Jr’s side of the equation.
The problem, as it is today, lays at Theresa’s feet. I have a feeling she wouldn’t sell out even at 3-4 times its true value.
All in the name of “Seniors legacy” of course.
If I were Jr, and had every intention to stay at DEI a contract would never be signed until it was a sure thing a 2007 championship wasn’t in the cards. To not hold out on the possibility of that being a bargaining chip (at DEI or elsewhere) is foolish.
Why wouldn’t Jr. take the Bud cash to RCR and become a part owner of that 4th car Luke mentions? Get out from under the thumb of Teresa and any obligations to carry the cousins and gain a legit shot at a title. Sounds good to me! And think of the fun he and Harvick would have playing in the same sand box together!!
