NASCAR on Dirt the Sequel

Bet you thought the shindig at Tony’s place would be last chance of the season to see the NASCAR stars fling dirt and ride a cushion?

Au contraire mon ami as Terry Cheveaux would say.

This Thursday night a whole passel of stars descend on Macon Speedway (ILL) for “NASCAR Night II.”

The event is sponsored by the US Army as the race date is the Army’s birthday and local representatives are planning a special celebration to mark the event.

Among those competing in dirt modifieds are Casey Mears, Marcus Ambrose, Kyle Busch, Ray Evernham, Bobby Labonte, Jason Leffler, Stephen Leicht, David Reutimann, Kenny Schrader, Kenny Mike & and Steve Wallace and JJ Yeley.

Aaron Pierce, currently leading the USAC Silver Crown Championship, will also appear at the invitation of Kenny Wallace.

NOTE: Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and local Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January.

IN OTHER NEWS: Having been known to lay a wager… or two, in my time you shouldn’t be surprised to know I’d place a buck or two on who the perpetrator of this hoax is.

Monday morning rumors flew that a plane went down in Pennsylvania after the air control tower at Fort Indiantown Gap reported hearing a “mayday” from an aircraft at 8:15 a.m.

Allegedly the plane was that of Jeff Gordon however John Edwards, a Gordon spokesman, said the airplane was sitting in its hanger.

After calling out Full Throttle’s CSI it was determined the perp was one of the legion of Gordon Haters. I’d bet on it!
