NASCAR Triva: I Can’t Believe I’m Seeing This Edition
Ok wise guys and gals what does this picture depict?
Where is it? When was it, and why was it an important NASCAR first?
Bobby Isaac won the 200 lap event by 2 laps over David Pearson, but truth be told who won and why isn’t relevant to why this event was important.
BTW, in a rather round about and convoluted way the title is a clue.

It was the Greenville 200 held on 10 April 1971 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Greenville, SC. It was important because it was the first NASCAR race nationally televised from start to finish.
With all those trees could be Pocono or early New Hampshire. But the relevance is probably first race with a catch fence in place?
George, DarthDilbert beat you to the correct answer although his comment hit the moderation cue.
The race was on April 10, 1971 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway and was the first NASCAR event that was covered on live TV Flag-to-Flag.
Here is the story about how they are tracking down a complete copy of the tape/film of the event.
Site includes other screen captures of what film they do have.
No problem in as much as I didn’t have the correct answer anyway.
Nice call DarthDilbert!
Amazing call I would say, especially considering it came less than 2 hours after I posted it.
I really gotta dig deeper, know what I mean?
