NASCAR’s Radiant Heat

Radiant Heat: def, “Radiant heat is emitted from hot surfaces, eg the glowing panel of a gas heater, the surface of a heated concrete slab, a bar radiator or open fire. Radiant heat directly warms people and objects in the room, rather than warming the air.”

Given Tony Stewart’s performance in the last month, 2 straight wins and an injury plagued fifth place in Joliet , it’s safe to say Tony currently is the “radiant heat” on the NASCAR circuit. Given Fridays final practice speeds turned in by Bobby Labonte it’s also safe to say he may be the receipiant of some of that warming.

In light of that I’ll tip-toe out on a thin limb and say Labonte is long over due and will qualify in the top ten for Sunday’s New England 300, and… get his first win of the year. And not so incidently continue Joe Gibbs dominence of the past month.

Sorry Junior fans it ain’t gonna happen for you guys and gals.

  1. Speaking of which, I think NASCAR needs to do something about this Joe Gibbs dominance. I mean, they have won 66% of the last three races! Smaller teams like Gibbs have an unfair advantage over bigger teams like Hendrick and Roush, because the smaller teams can give more personal TLC to their drivers. NASCAR should make a rule requiring all teams to have at least 4 drivers, just to make it fair.

    (Just kidding…)

  2. :-) Nice I caught the joke right away. It reminds me of all the sky is falling, NASCAR is dying denizens that hang out over at the That’s Racin set of blogs.

About 70% of them are of the opinion that the dominance of Roush and Hendrick will spell the end of NASCAR. That leads to every conspiracy theory possible being offered from tech inspectors being on the Roush/Hendrick payroll to one numb skull stating that Roush was aided by money from Foxsports so the “fix was in” and Roush had to win while Fox carried the first half of the TV schedule.

It really is frightening to wander over there at times but just like a train wreck it’s hard to stay away if for no other reason than the comedic relief.
