No Pot-O-Gold at MIS Sunday
Only Raindrops & Rainbows.
A steady rain forced NASCAR to postpone the 3M Performance 400 Nextel Cup race at MIS until Monday. With more rain in the forecast, though, there was the possibility that the drivers would not get on track again until Tuesday morning.
The weather guessers are giving a 80 percent chance of rain on Monday and a 40 percent on Tuesday presumably a result of the system that is ravaging Oklahoma at the moment.
With an already short week due to the Saturday Cup event at Bristol everyone will be under pressure to get the event in.
NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said worse case the event would be moved to the weekend after Thanksgiving, making it the last race on the schedule. The Sept. 16 event at New Hampshire International Speedway would become the 26th and final race of the regular season, instead of the start of the Chase.
What a fine kettle of fish that would be. On the other hand it would be comical watching everyone making a sows ear into a silk purse.
“Everything in this garage, you adapt to,” Eddie Wood, co-owner of Wood Brothers/JTG Racing said. “Whatever happens right know, you adapt to. Or a minute from now. It makes no difference. If we have to stay here until Wednesday, if that’s what the plan is, it’s OK. We’re here. You can’t do anything about the weather, so you can make all the preparations so if they do get a window, we’ll be ready to go.”
Even odds says something less than 200 laps will be run if the green flags falls this week.
The odds are 70/30 on it being a nightmare if it runs on November 22nd. That late into November snow is a distinct possibility. And temps could range anywhere from 20 to 60 degrees. OH Joy!
There would be one plus though. In most years the Michigan- Ohio State football game is contested on or about the 22nd. This year it’s scheduled for the week before (the 17th) in Ann Arbor.
And finally, (because we at Full Throttle care, really!) is a little day brightener on a very dull gray and rainy day in NASCAR Nation.
It doesn’t get better than Hello Kitty’s and race cars to turn that upside down smile around. Honest!
My seven years living in Japan taught me not to be surprised by anything Hello Kitty, but I am.

Well, if the race did happen Nov 22, barring snow and ice, it looks like it would be a great race , because all the driver’s scopes are great on that day. Had to take a peek just for fun:)
