Paul Menard Gets Locked into the Allstate 400

Cartoon CourtroomThe wheeling and dealing is done.

And DEI and Ginn are one.

The future is now with Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the #8 and Martin Truex Jr. in the #1, both owned by Teresa Earnhardt.

The newly formed quadruplet is filled out by #01 Chevrolet, which is co-driven by Mark Martin and rookie Aric Almirola, and the #14 team formerly driven by Sterling Marlin.

Ginn will be listed as the official owner of both the #01 and the #15 and points from the #14 with be assigned to Paul Menards ride and providing him with an immediate jump into the top 35 in points.

Sooo… I guess that means Mark Martin’s ride will no longer be under Hendrick power and switch to the newly formed engine conglomerate of DEI/RCR.

I’m still on a bit of the fence on this deal, but agree with John Newsom’s early assessment: “DEI never seemed all that organized with two teams, and I can’t imagine things are much better.

Expect a lot of chaos, especially if Bobby Ginn does end up with a little piece of DEI. I can’t imagine him deferring every decision to Theresa Earnhardt.”

Yep, if Mother Teresa couldn’t come to terms with her own kin by marriage how the hell will she get along with someone not only outside that circle but an owner who has his own ideas on running a race team.

More later…

Does anyone think Dale Jr’s voice mail box is overflowing with Aric Almirola msgs asking what it’s like working for The Wicked Witch of the Carolinas?

Or that Mark Martin is thinkin’ “I didn’t buy into this!”

  1. Not quite official, but close enough. At least, so it seems.

It seems that Paul Menard isn’t the only benefactor from this, as it looks like the Herminator will be in the show for at least a solid few weeks as well.

Guess NAPA wasn’t in the mood to fork out the cash for that 13, nor were Dominos/Burger King, or UPS for that matter.

Oh well, I’d rather listen to Kenny. :)
Too bad it looks like Regan is ass out. Unless, maybe he won’t be next year.

    Hmmm, I wonder…

  2. Maybe this merry-go-round will see Regan Smith end up taking Almirola’s development seat at Gibbs.

  3. Vrooming is for lugnuts, not developers…so long Booby Gin!

  4. So long?… you’re dreamin’ Ginn isn’t goin’ anywhere.

He’s cut loose the deadwood that didn’t have sponsorship and merged with one of the most well known names in the game AND still retains ownership to two race teams.

  5. Ginn is no fool, he will sit and watch quietly but he carries a very big stick
