Renault’s German GP Problems

From the horse’s mouth, Renault’s Director of Engineering Pat Symonds.

However, while in the previous two races the tyre problems weren’t as severe due to Renault’s mass dampers, which are devised to regulate tyre performance in order to give better grip, at Hockenheim the team weren’t able to run with them and suffered the full effects of their blistering Michelin tyres.

“I think we know where the problem is. It can be rectified quite easily,” he told The Telegraph.

“We’ve learnt so much already about what happened during the race in Germany that we can get back a long way.”

Looks like Symonds isn’t the only one to learn from Renault’s problems at Hockenhiem.

Straight from the horse’s asses… check that, from the horse’s mouth.

The FIA reportedly informed Renault that the controversial ‘mass damper’ system can be refitted to its car without fear of retrospective penalty at an upcoming appeal hearing.

And they claim NASCAR manipulates the outcome of its races. They got nothing on the FIA[sco]. They not only relented on the dampers but it looks like the makings of a collusion charge somewhere down the road.

McLaren’s managing director Martin Whitmarsh also indicated that he will be supporting Renault’s quest for championship victory. He was quoted as saying by Setanta: ”Renault are a strong team and Alonso is a great world champion.

”There is a common interest - we both want to beat Ferrari in the rest of the season.”

They both want to beat Ferrari, or all three want to beat Ferrari? (Don’t ask a Tifosi that question.)
