What has been rumored about for most of the last six months has come to pass, Ricky Rudd is going back to the future and returning to Robert Yates Racing.

The famed #28 that last adorned the Texaco Havoline Ford under the right feet of Davey Allison, Ernie Irvan and Kenny Irwin hasn’t been seen since the sponsor bolted for Ganassi Racing may also return.

The candy giant Mars, which already sponsors Yates’ #38 M&M’s Ford, also will back Rudd’s effort. Butch Hylton will continue in his role as the Yates team’s crew chief.
