An additional round looks set to be added to this season’s A1GP calendar, with Brazil poised to host the climax of the 2008/09 season.

Reports have said that the World Cup of Motosport will visit the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo - an event that would mark the first occasion the series has visited South America.

The races have been handed a provisional date of May 17 and have also been added to the international calendar of world motorsport’s governing body, the FIA.

However, series organizers have refused to officially confirm details of the additional round at the present time.

The 2008-09 campaign is currently due to reach its climax at Brands Hatch on May 3.

Taupo in New Zealand will stage the next races on January 25.
