Gerhard Berger, former Austrian Formula 1 driver, has bought 50 percent of the Red Bull ‘junior’ team Scuderia Torro Rosso. Berger’s last involvement in F1 was as BMW’s motorsports director during the early days of the company’s involvement with Williams F1.

The deal is part of a larger transaction that sees Dieter Mateschitz’ Red Bull buy a 50 percent stake in Berger Logistik, the Berger family’s Austria-based transport company.

Red Bull is eager to expand its own distribution networks for its energy drinks and is planning on using Berger
