Sonoma: Latino Piloto is Muy Bueno
Ok all you road course haters try to spin the Sonoma race and results into your normal description of them being a “snoozefest.”
If you do I’ll tell you your opinion has about the same worth as a fart in a ferris wheel. By the time you make a single revolution the rank smell is long gone!
A race that featured Juan

Why do you even bother reading the TR tripe? It’s so bad it’s almost past the point of being an unintentional self-parody. Almost.
I can’t help it Dude. The place is no different than passing a wreck on I-5 north, if you’re not part of the back-up, you’re the one that started it by slowing down.
I suppose that’s not much different than reading The Tall Glass of Lactose tripe, but I could be wrong.
Agreeing 100% marc…. not boring at all
I’ve been to Formula One races, CART road course races, and too many TransAm and SCCA events to mentioned, but by far and away the most exiting road course race is with Stock Cars. TV does not do these road course races justice. See one live and then tell me their boring.
McMurray’s team blew it. It’s obvious that if you have a a fast car at a road course you must pit, for the last time, at the first opportunity to make it all the way to the end.
Doesn’t anyone see the phoniness to all of these great “finishes”? Once again Mother Daytona has cooked the books to make racing “interesting”. I’m talking about the smaller fuel cell. No way Robby or McMurray should have come up on the short side of the win. No one, prior to yesterday, has won outside the starting 16th spot. I hate fuel mileage wins under any cicumstances.
Not to take anything away from Bubbacito’s drive. He made a couple of outstanding passes. Not to mention the bumping and grinding between Stewart and Jeff, Juan and Jimmie, and a bunch of others too numerous to mention. A satisfying race to watch.
“No one, prior to yesterday, has won outside the starting 16th spot.”
I see you’ve bought the kool-aid the press is selling. The incurious reporters have all pimped the “no one has won from 16th (actually it was 13th) or further back” line
The reality is Ernie Irvan won at Sonoma in 2002 from the 43rd spot after being sent to the back from his qual position.
Not that it changes your point, I’m just saying.
Anyway, isn’t there an “opposite” to what you say? What if a larger fuel cell were used and Robby G. and McMurray hadn’t run out?
Wouldn’t that have possibly made for a closer finish by allowing two faster cars than Jaun’s to compete to the end?
I’m with George Fuel Milage wins suck, while consumption racing at LeMans endurance type events facinates me, it has no place in a event like this.
Regardless, JPM threw the car through the field like a raging bull & was a worthy winner.
Well then, I guess I’m the outlier on this subject. Guess I’ll recommend NASCAR install 150 gallon fuel cells to solve it.
In the meantime Peter I’ve got to get my All Black paraphernalia ready for this weekends thumping of the Wallabes.
I have to “look the part” as I watch if ya know what I mean.
Normally I would take you up on a wager but I fear my Trans-Tasman nieghbours may have the upper hand.
Glad to know where your ex-pat Yank/Philli domiciled loyalties lay, I will remember that in future……bastard!
Aust vs NZ rugby matches rarely fail to deliver & are in fact a highlight of my year. I’m lucky on the Sydney matches as several clients have corporate boxes…pity it’s not that way with the F1 in Melb, for that i’m on my own dime.
Your Trans-Tasman neighbors had the upper hand in 2000 and the Wallabes won me $100 dollars from a shipmate in my last year in the Navy and Japan.
