Good for Speed Car, interesting line up of drivers. Judging by the empty stands at the Super V8 round in Bahrain local interest should centre on this series. Personally I never understood why the Aussie V8’s were doing a round in the mid east anyway.

I have high hopes for the Asian GP2 series, as I speculate talent rich-cash poor hotshoes may get a ride there & launch themselves into Europe, similar to Japanese F3000 in the 90’s.

The numbers I saw weren’t very impressive, 33,000 over three days.

Pretty sad considering the event features 3-4 Mid East specific racing series in addition to Speedcar and the V8’s.

but this side of either ponds no one’s really been courting the market. this is really interesting stuff when you consider it. “stock car” more or less is going global under the radar and with a slew of drivers whose names are recognizable to the base they’re courting. not a great turn out, but it may be in through the backdoor worthy. and reciprocally, a place to grow drivers from the region. nascar east, maybe?
