Sprint Cup: So, Who’s on the Bubble Now?

Sprint Cup: So, Who's on the Bubble Now?

Funny sometimes how fast things change. So fast at times it’s hardly worth calling oneself a Pundit, not that it ever is financially or otherwise, but still, making predictions can be so ego deflating.

A case on point is Dustin Long’s latest. Long looks back at the year just past and makes 10 predictions for 2009.

No sooner did I finish reading his prediction Matt Kenseth would be the odd man out at Roush-Fenway after 2009 as Jack cuts to the mandated 4 team limit I read this: “Roush Fenway Racing announced today that it has re-signed 2003 Sprint Cup Champion Matt Kenseth to a multi-year contract.”

So, it has to be asked, who’s on the Roush-Fenway bubble now?

Two months ago I would’ve have guessed McMurray, but he’s shown a resurgence in performance since September that makes Jack’s decision that much harder.

  1. I have to agree with you Marc that it will be a tough decision. Last year I would have said Ragan was closer to the bubble than McMurray but with UPS now signed up for several years, I think McMurray is back to the bubble position.

  2. Ragan of all the drivers in Cup showed the greatest improvement from last year to this.

Last year he was a pin ball, this year threatened to make the Chase.
