Stewart Should Thank Kurt Busch

The title is only half in jest, honest.

As someone once said any publicity is good publicity, just spell the name correctly. In all the media reports and blog postings seen since Monday evening I have yet to find one that contains a misspelling of Smoke, Stewart or Tony. (unless it’s my own and I’m afraid to look)

That’s a good thing. But wait it gets better.

Potentially today is the day NASCAR lowers the boom on Kurt Busch for his pitroad shenanigans in Dover. If that is the case the media will be flooded not only with “Kurt The Convicted’s” name but in all probability Stewart’s as well. And presumably spelled correctly.

By now you’re wondering what the hell is this guy smoking. (Not to be confused with Smoke smoking as he watched a crew member pirouetting over his hood.)

Today is also Stewart’s third annual Prelude to the Dream that will be held at Eldora Speedway.

Get my drift?

With a line-up that includes Smoke plus Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Mike and Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Ray Evernham, Red Farmer, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Ron Capps, Cruz Pedregon and Bobby Labonte the grandstands are sold out.

But there’s no limit to the number of people that can subscribe to the live pay-per-view broadcast on HBO. With proceeds going to the Tony Stewart Foundation and Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Gang Camp (and presumably a portion of the subscription money) any free publicity is a winning proposition.

Say thank you Tony, no matter how idiotic Kurt’s actions were Monday the end result may be a good thing in the long run.

And any smackdown Busch The Elder receives from NASCAR may serve to straighten his dumb ass out.

UPDATE: If your one of the few that misssed Kurt’s actions here is a good video of the wreck and the incident on pitroad.

And if you’re one of the damn few that have defended Kurt’s actions, and there are a few, you need to replay the video until it’s seared into your memory.

UPDATE II:Sources” are saying Busch will be told to sit out Pocono this week.

UPDATE III: So much for “sources.” It’s 8pm est, if word hasn’t come done from On High by now it ain’t coming until Thursday at the earliest.

  1. Oh my gosh, it

  2. Big Dee, your “bonafides” only proves one thing, you can fill up a comment thread with a lot of words that have zero to do with the subject of the post.

Calm down, sip a bit more Kool-Aid then comment on the subject which is very plainly on Stewart’s Prelude to the Dream event and not on the Stewart/Busch incident.

The only reason it’s been noted at all is the possibility it would aid the charity event via in extra publicity and media attention the Dover incidents created.
