Friday Night Dance with the Lady in Black

Friday Night Dance with the Lady in Black

Kyle Busch danced with the Lady in Black Friday in search of hie fourth Nationwide win of the year. He led 143 of 153 laps but with the help of a debris causing wreck, and a cut tire, The Lady played reality show judge and voted Busch off the track.

Busch’s “Triple” Turns into a Kenseth Double (Video added)

Kyle Busch’s efforts for a triple race win weekend came up short at the hands of a surging Matt Kenseth who became the first driver since Jeff Gordon in 1997, and fifth overall, to win the first two events of the Sprint Cup season.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Matt Kenseth, winless a year ago, added the biggest jewel in NASCAR to his trophy collection Sunday, winning a dramatic, rain-shortened Daytona 500 before a capacity crowd of some 200,000 at Daytona International Speedway, plus a Fox national television audience.

Red Flag Over Daytona

Red Flag Over Daytona

First it was reports of rain surfacing in Turns 1 and 2 as well as on pit road while under caution for a Aric Almirola spin on the backstretch. That was quickly followed by the red flag and within 16 minutes of it being thrown the event is called for rain.

Sprint Cup Qualifying Results - Reutimann, Toyota On Pole

David Reutimann and his No. 44 UPS Toyota won the Coors Light Pole Award for the FORD 400 with a lap of 31.462 seconds, 171.636 mph. This is his first pole in 63 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.

Biffle “DISHes” Chase Field

Greg Biffle grabbed the lead in his DISH Network Ford from Jimmie Johnson during a restart with 12 laps remaining to claim his first win of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The rest of the story is depicted left, a real honest-to-goodness NASCAR swaybar. Of course that one has all its bolts attached in [...]

There's One Way to Beat Kyle Busch

There’s One Way to Beat Kyle Busch

There’s one way to beat Kyle Busch.
The recipe includes carrying over a hot streak from last week, toss in a fortuitous pit stop that contenders Jeff Burton and Jimmie Johnson didn’t utilize, and finally, beat Busch into submission with a little dash of Tasmanian Devil. (with a side of Vegemite!)
The end result is Marcos Ambrose’s [...]

NASCAR Stars Beaten by Heat, Schendel

Matt Kenseth tried to keep up.
But in the end, Midwest horsepower trumped NASCAR starpower as Tim Schendel of Sparta, Wis capped a sweat-soaked Sunday with a dominant win in the Rasmussen Group Twin 75s ASA Super Late Model Series race at Iowa Speedway.

“It’s top three,” Schendel said of the triumph that came two weeks after [...]

Kyle Busch Goes “Grunge”

Fans, and non-fans of Kyle Busch would probably agree the Gibbs Racing driver has become the “official” Bad Boy of NASCAR.
But did you know Kyle has an official band?
The Last Vegas (pictured left), named by Spin Magazine as “Best New Discovery,” is his official band. A quick spin through the interwebs to Kyle’s website [...]

Matt Kenseth Goes Home Again

As if a 36-race NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule isn’t grueling enough, Tony Stewart spent his spare time doing even more racing Tuesday night with a couple of other Cup regulars.
The two-time Cup champion spent the night with series leader Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth competing in a super late-model race at Madison International Speedway, [...]

Leftover Infineon Australian Trivia

Here’s a few questions for the trivia masters that I failed to post prior to the weekends event in Sonoma.
1. Why was the primary sponsor of the Marcos Ambrose/Woods Bros #21 Fusion Motorcraft and not the usual Little Debbie Cakes?
2. Who was the first Australian driver to race a Ford at Infineon?
3. What Australian driver [...]

NASCAR Lost & Found Dept: “The Big One”

Remember way back last week at Talladega when the iconic “Big One” never happened?
In a strange misalignment of Alabama stars The Big One went MIA and apparently lost as drivers were more intent on a pathetic and fruitless attempt at catching Kyle Busch than playing 200mph bumpercars?
Well, The Big One was found, at Richmond on [...]
