Team Red Bull, Runs Out of “Energy”

For a race team that owes it’s very existence to the world’s most famous energy drink, in name and bank account, the Red Bull ride of Bill Elliott didn’t live up to its bottled namesake.

The team flunked out of its first on track test at LMS and will load up, go home, and miss Saturday’s Bank of America 500 after clocking the 44th “fastest” speed Thursday.

That ride home won’t include Elliott, he will serve as grand marshal at the Ride to Victory IV, a charity motorcycle ride for Kyle Petty’s Victory Junction Gang Camp. As for the Red Bull team, they get another shot and will attempt to qualify at two more events before the end of the year.

HWSBO, a/k/a Brian France speaks. He speaks of the Chase and changes for 2007. But he doesn’t say much. The most noteworthy change is to award more points to the resident of victory lane each race. The presumption is the change would be in effect for the entire season and not just the Chase, but he wasn’t that specific. If he’s thinking Chase only he’s off his nut.

As for the rest, there isn’t a rest. He’s seems fairly adamant there won’t be more than the Anointed Ten

  1. Wow. Trumped by Terry.

I bet Bill is happy that Terry isn’t running next year, but at the same time he may have to fight with DJ for that “spot”.

  2. Damn Luke I thought I had a mean streak ;-)!

Speaking of Terry, I’ve never been one that cared much for all the diecast crapola, mainly because I grew up bulding my own. Plus the cost of the diecast junk is way overpriced.

Anyway, I sure would love to build a replica of the “tribute car” Texas Terry will feild at Texas. It has to be one of the sharper looking “final rides” I can remember.
