The Best-Laid Schemes O’ Mice an ‘Men
Or the plans of ISC and Brian France.
International Speedway Corp. has scrapped plans to build a track on Staten Island, stalling NASCAR’s dream to bring a race to the New York area, after failing to get the support of residents on the Island.
“While we are disappointed that we could not complete the speedway development on Staten Island, our enthusiasm for the metropolitan New York market is in no way dampened,” ISC president Lesa France Kennedy said Monday. “We continue to view the region as a prime location for a major motorsports facility.”
Good-by New York, hello New Jersey.
Their next move should be to pull the awards banquet out of the city. Los Vegas has great weather in December. So does Miami.

Do I sense the cost of a ticket increasing at ISC tracks over the next few years to compensate the approximate loss of $50 million in the venture?
Hello,
This is a great blog. I’m going to be sure to link yours to mine. Would you mind doing the same for me?
Thank you very much.

Ticket prices may increase but you would be hard pressed to lay the blame on NYC’s failure to embrace the new track.
An increase can be laid at the feet of many causes not associated to the track. That said there is a small but growing number of fans complaining about high ticket prices.
J. Mark what gives you the idea that I have any interest in linking to a blog centered on the Numerous Felons League and other forms of football and hasn’t has a single racing related entry since it’s inception in March of this year.
Sorry no.
