The King isn’t Dead After All!
“The King is Dead, Long Live the King,” despite rumors to that effect and a sub-par 2005 that seamed to indicate a changing of the old guard.
Michael Schumacher isn’t dead, isn’t a lame duck awaiting a MotoGP interloper to take his seat and most importantly, for the rabid Tifosi, his storming European Grand Prix win places him back in the thick of the Drivers Championship.
Contrary to a misguided prediction of a Clash of Titans in a first corner pile-up (and a Nico Rosberg win), it was the the tail of the field that saw first turn difficulties. The Safety Car was deployed as David Coulthard and Vitantonio Liuzzi tangled at the first corner. Liuzzi pressed on with a damaged nose, but later spun at Turn 10 his right rear tyre is absent from the rim. Coulthard pits at the end of the lap and again on lap two.
The first stint had Alonzo, leading from pole, and Schumacher swapping fastest laps until both pitted on lasp 17 and 18 resespectivly. Schumacher rejoins fourth
