The Obligatory Post of the Day

Let’s get this out of the way. This story is all over the net, blogs and probably on my “personel roll” when I take my daily consitutional. If ya know what I mean.

I first noted it at Clance’s place. Am I surprised Gene Haas is behind bars and fitted with the latest in haute couture prison stripes?

Well yes, anybody would be. To this point all seemed normal over at Haas CNC Racing. Driver Jeff Green and Johnny Sauter haven’t burned the track up lately (although Sauter is 9th in Busch points) but that’s been the case for a while with the Haas outfit.

Maybe some hint of the governments action bubbled up the the business press but it’s news to me. What I find interesting is officials felt the need to hold Haas without bail. That may change due to some brief filed by his shysters, er, lawyers but for now he’s getting three squares on the taxpayers dime. (does that mean I can claim part “sponsorship” of the #00 or #66?)

The other thing of note - and not mentioned in the SF Chronicle story linked above - is Haas is also charged with witness intimidation. While no expert on the subject (except extracting a confession out of one daughter to “get” the other) that may indicate the government has something on tape or in writing that incriminates Haas.

We”ll see. Considering the “Wheels of Justice” moves about the same rate of speed as Michael Moore moves away from the dinner table anything definitive may not be known for a couple years. Or more.
