The Off Week Cesspool

CessPool

And you thought with the Cup Series off this week there would be no “lucky” entrants to the Cesspool. Far from it bucko and we start with the NASCAR Hall of Fame losers.

First up is the local government of Georgia, both at the State and City level. The sham that was the NASCAR bidding process shouldn’t go un-noticed BTW. The reality of the situation dictated from the start the Hall would be in Charlotte and for NASCAR to not have a “process” would have been wrong also. The reality is Charlotte was the far and away leader from the start.

But as it came down to the wire and rumors swirled that Charlotte was “it” Georgia layed down prostrate and yelled “beat me, kick, me make me write bad checks” (written on taxpayers accounts). Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin announced her city was upping its bid from $5 million to $77 million. If I were on the tax rolls of Atlanta I’d be more than a little upset the bid was raised by more than 15 times the original. I would also lay even odds Mayor Franklin’s latest song on her IPod is the Academy Award winning Best Song, “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” by Paul Beauregard.

And for that Mayor Franklin, you get your “Hall of Fame bid.” You are hereby inducted into the inaugural, and as yet only entrant, into the NASCAR Cesspool Hall of Fame.

The second entry goes to Kevin Harvick who apparently forgot NASCAR was in Mexico to promote the sport and entice more Hispanic viewers. Harvick left Sunday’s Busch Series race without coming to the media center for post-race interviews as is customary for third-place finishers. The reason given was concern over “security issues” that only he felt were a problem as the other two top finishers were present. Maybe Harvick came oown with a case of Montezuma’s Revenge and had to leave early in which case his entry into the Cesspool is appropriate.
