The Perfect NASCAR Marriage

With all due respect to Jimmie Johnson and his better half Chandra, not to mention Jeff and his ex-SuperModel, new Momma and wife Ingrid, there just may be The Perfect NASCAR Marriage.

It might not seem so at first glance, but I’ll explain. Eventually.

NASCAR, and those people the bring you The Right Stuff NASA, share a joint anniversary in 2008. Both have been a part of the American scene since 1948.

NASA plans a December 6th launch of space shuttle Atlantis and has already started finalizing the flight cargo manifest. Among the items that will be stowed inside the shuttle’s cargo bay: three Daytona 500 race flags.

This the first time that the Daytona track and NASA have joined forces and both organizations are looking to capitalize on the publicity. Toward that end both sides are trying to arrange astronaut-driver promotional events, including a possible joint NASCAR driver-shuttle crew press event during Atlantis
