The Specter of MIS Hangs Over Bristol
And so do the rain clouds. The weather guessers prediction for tonight’s Busch event at BMS calls for thunder boomers and the same through Saturday.
Wonder what the seasonal record is for rain induced postponements?
I suppose the logical conclusion is the rain followed the speeding NASCAR haulers from MIS. That’s the logical conclusion. To hell with that, there’s nothing logical about weather.
I blame Thor the red-haired and bearded god of thunder and war. If you have any better ideas I’ll entertain them but ’til then I’m sticking with my hypothesis. And keeping my galoshes handy.
What will happen at the wildest, wooliest 533-mile bullring in existence? Let’s put it this way.
Earnhardt has a history of success at Bristol. He swept the Busch and Cup races there in 2004, rebounding from a scary sports-car accident earlier in the summer to qualify for the inaugural Chase. He also has eight career top-10 finishes and five top-fives.
But the man he’s looking to leap-frog, Kurt Busch has been hotter than hot in the last two months and has five victories in only 13 starts at Bristol. Not a good scenario for Red Nation.
With only three events before the Chase Bristol offers the worst possible scenario for those looking in or those looking at whose behind them. You can go from being innocent bystander one second and the victim of a major pileup the next. Kinda like a shortened and slower Talladega.
I expect Edwards to be strong as well as Mark Martin. (assuming his DEI engine doesn’t pop like a cheap circus balloon) Jeffy will spend most of the night near the front and so will Stewart. And you can’t discount Kyle Busch’s chances after he smoked the field in the Spring.
But, I’m going a different direction. Matt Kenseth has won 2 of the last four Bristol events, he’ll make it 3 of 5 Saturday.
IN OTHER NEWS, Jeremy Mayfield finally admits he’s a bonehead. Well, that’s not exactly the word he used but the effect is the same. Admitting he “would

And the saga continues….
It’s possible Michael. Although at this minute the radar shows no rain of any type within the entire state.
But it’s still along way until race time and thunder boomers usually show up late afternoon/early evening.
As long as they stay away from Richmond (knocks on wood) all will be well.
Luke, I presume you’re not knocking on driftwood?
Given the environment in Texas, or the mid-west, at the moment that’s a distinct possibility.
