There is a God in NASCAR Heaven!
Sometimes the impossible happens. Other times it doesn’t.
Count your blessings, something in the sky over NASCAR Nation is smiling upon us all.
Rusty Wallace’s days as race analyst for ABC/ESPN aren’t numbered. His number is up and is being replaced by Dale Jarrett.
On more “down-to-Earth” notes: Haas CNC Racing is still alive and well, (despite my earlier prediction) with both the #66 and #70 solidly in the top 35 based on the teams 30th and 32nd finish in 2007.
The team has announced its latest technological toy, the Windshear wind tunnel, will be available for the use of other teams within NASCAR Nation. For those unfamiliar with this gargantuan piece of equipment, that I dubbed the Frankenstein

I never saw such a good driver turn into a such a total loser as an announcer as Rusty did. He’d probably be great on one of those Speed Channel NASCAR gabfests, but his racing commentary was awful.
Kinda strange isn’t it, specially for someone who was credited with having a “gift of the gab” during his career.
Microphone jitters, methinks. Same reason there are people that in real life situations are hysterically funny. Put them on a stage with a microphone and they become deer caught in the headlights. Never underestimate the ability of people to psych themselves out.
Speaking of psyched out, I’m getting quite a kick from reading Pope John Daly I’s comments area lately. Seems the poor boy is suffering from the delusion I’m leaving nastygrams in there he has to immediately delete lest one of his worshipers believe him to be something less than the sole fountainhead of all positive change in NASCAR broadcasting. Hate to break the bad news, but it ain’t me, never has been me, and never will be me. I have a life, thanks.
Sorry, never had the “pleasure” of reading the threads over there. He’s in my RSS reader and I skim the stories but it ends there.
I must correct myself. I actually did leave a comment there once:

Good grief, what was I thinking at the time? Oh yeah, that he was legit.
it should be a really great 2008 nascar season!
