They Say Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that’s the case, and I believe it is, Kevin Harvick my heartfelt thanks goes out to you for taking my idea and running with it. (Not that he knows I exist, but sometimes self-stroking of the ego is worthwhile - ed)

Presumably some of you have noticed the group of social networks listed at the bottom of FT’s home page one of which, the Full Throttle Club, I preside over and is built on the Ning platform/software.

Harvick has started his own network on the same platform - The Kevin Harvick Fan Site.

“I feel like we always try to be cutting edge with everything we do at KHI,” Kevin Harvick said. “While the old fan area, message board and sites served an important purpose for the last nine years, we knew it was time to step it up.”

According the the press release the site launched on January 26, 2009, and more than 1900 fans have already signed-up. (make that 1901, and one from the P.I. - ed) An average of 170 new fans join every day. Members have joined from nearly every state and across Canada.

“The Kevin Harvick Fan Central has definitely exceeded my expectations,” Harvick continued. “I have always said that I have the greatest fans and now I believe they have the greatest place to come together. I’m really proud that KHI has once again taken a huge step outside the box with our online community and social networking site.”

Don’t be shy, who will be number 1902?

Or if you don’t care for crowds, and Lord knows with only about 3 dozen members the FT Club isn’t, head over to FTC where you can have your own blog, start or join discussions on NASCAR, and post your favorite racing related videos and photos.

  1. It’s about quality as well as quantity Marc and Full Throttle Club doesn’t take a back seat to any social site in that regard. Think how big FTC would be if YOU had won the Bud Shootout?!

  2. If I had won the Bud Shootout, I’d be a retired blogger.
