I had my first visit to the Mountain this year. Sure enough, there was rain, and sure enough it caught out some of the big names, one of whom was in that Nissan you pictured. But the cream rises to the top (or at least the top 4), although I'm not sure many V8 Supercar fans would call Steven Johnson "the cream"...

Anyone who can keep his car straight in driving rain on the mountain gains my respect.

I'd love nothing better than to see the top 20 or so NASCAR stars navigate that chicane on top of the mountain.

It would be comedy gold for a few laps til they got used to it.

BTW, despite all the HooHaa, how the hell Dick Johnstone finished 1st/2nd (depending on your take) in a Ford Sierra in those conditions, up against an all-wheel drive, was one of the greatest bits of car control seen at the mountain.

All was forgiven the next year. Jim was surrounded by people wanting their T shirt signed. The shirts read " I'm an arsehole...Jim Richards told me"
