Trouble on “Kangaroo Meat’s” Horizon?
Kangaroo Meat, a/k/a Tasmanian Devil south of the Earth’s belt-line, and also known as Marcos Ambrose by family and friends may be headed for sponsor trouble.
The story out of Australia is Craig Gore the owner and driving force behind Team Australia and Aussie Vineyards, sponsor of the Ambrose Nationwide efforts, is in a financial bind.
He’s cut loose with the licenses he owned for V8 Supercar drivers Jason Bargwanna and Max Wilson a short two weeks before the season opener in Adelaide.
Gore has had a struggle in the V8s since organizing the team in 2004 with its best points finish of 16th in 2006. He’s also had some health problems that have impacted Gore’s ability to devote the time needed to develop the team further.
Additionally his Champ car team and driver Will Power face an uncertain future with that series’ future hanging on a financial precipice. (With Tony George standing below with a catchers mitt.)
What it all means at this point is debatable Gore has survived worse things, his near death last October in a helo crash on the Gold Coast chief among them. The last thing Ambrose needs is a cash shortage, not to mention car owner’s the Wood Bros., that may hamper a promising career in NASCAR.
Label this as developing and something to watch as the season progresses.

While I feel sorry for Jason & Max, I doubt Gore will be missed in the V8 series, he had a incredible ability to rub teams & officials the wrong way. More so when you consider he has zero motorsport background, a sponsor who became an owner.
Same goes for the Champcar effort where Walker had to bring in a partner because of the financial situation. I’m convinced I have seen poor Derrick cringe everytime a TV camera/mike has gone anywhere near Gore.
IMHO, the whole “buy Team Australia merchandice & support Team Australia & Will Power” seemed a little tacky to my eye, others may disagree. Minardi & Stoddart holding the “independent” motorsport team status high ground was warranted, but a co-owner of a CC effort……PULEEESEE!
As side note Gore’s old man was a property development giant & genius, it was he who built Sanctuary Cove. A living legend of self made wealth.
