Martin Truex Jr., maneuvered his way to victory in the Winn-Dixie 250 Busch Series race Friday night at Daytona International Speedway, taking the win after a multiple-car crash resulted in a green/white/checkered-flag finish.

The three flags on the final laps came after a 16-car wreck wiped out much of the field with two laps remaining in the race. The wreck brought out the fifth caution of the race and halted action as officials brought out the red flag to clear debris, and cars, from the track.

After the nearly 30-minute delay, Truex effectively blocked second-place finisher Kevin Harvick, who attempted to find a gap above or below Truex’s Chevrolet. But Truex maintained his spot to drive to the win.

Truex, the reigning Busch series champion,won his first race at Daytona and extended his lead in the series standings to 71 points over Clint Bowyer. Reed Sorenson finished 20th and dropped to third in the standings.

Earlier in the day Truex announced the signing a three year extension of his DEI contract ending speculation that he would end his relationship with Dale Earndardt Jr. and DEI.
