USF1: It’s ALiiiiiiiiive!

USF1: It's ALiiiiiiiiive!

With end of year F1 news centered around new teams joining the 2010 grid noticeably absent has been F1’s only American based team USF1. While other teams have announced driver signings USF1 co-owners Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor have been under the radar, to say the least.

They have pretty much AWOL to this point that The Gnome opined the new squad was one of two that he felt would make the 2010 grid in Bahrain.

Whether prompted by Bernie’s diatribe, or having received a Christmas present from Santa, the team officially launched it’s website Friday.

The site includes, of all things, a Blog authored by Windsor, a YouTube channel and have joined that wild and wacky place called the Twitterverse.

Windsor in a blog post, the only post so far, goes to great lengths selling the fact the team is based in Charlotte “because it is the epicenter of racing in the United States” also note the team will “very soon” announce the teams driver lineup.

And so it goes, or would seem to be.

Exit question: Whatever happened to Windsor’s plan to test their car in January?

Maybe I missed a restatement of the promise made two months ago on the new website.

Or maybe I didn’t.

  1. Funny isn’t it? Windsor’s team announced that it would enter F1 before the FIA let in the other 3 new teams, & before the cost cutting program/engine deal that made it possible for those new teams to enter. In other words, he had a head start, & presumably, funding in place for a higher level of expenditure than is now necessary. And yet despite all of this the team has nothing to show…….except the involvement of Chad Whatshisname from You Tube.

I’m with Bernie, I’m not certain they will make the first race.

  2. Another slow news day in the world of racing Marc? Schumy making a comeback with Mercedes GP not a big enough story to cover? Stop picking on the nearly still born minnows and give them a chance to get out of the incubator, please.

Peter, I thought you were communing with underwater life in Queensland? Get back in the briny and off my one and only hope for a US F1 team will you?

A web site is better than nothing, but I have to reluctantly agree that the team progress is remarkably………non-existent?

Early championship pick for next year: Mercedes GP with non other then Michael Schumacher as WD champion. Yeah, I know, a radically bold call on my part!

  3. I’m in Queensland communing with a coktail by the pool at the resort. :-) I leave on the boat for the Coral Sea this week.

Regardless, Windsor has talked big & has produced nothing thus far. While I too would like to see a US team, I fear it may be a farce, that is if ithey even makes the grid.

George, your a brave man making predictions this early, I will follow your boldness & predict (on gut only) that a certain Spainard in a red car will be the WC.

  4. Glad to see you didn’t end up as as a Great White Christmas feast Peter. No really.

As for you two making “bold” predictions:

George you complain about me seining for minnows to post about and you pick a “washed up,” albeit everyone’s pick, as 2010 champ? Not to mention you’re in complete simpatico with Bernie who said Schumacher would have a “jaw dropping” season in 2010. Do you two need a room?

Peter, get out of the water, the brain cells are getting water logged. A Spaniard indeed.

You want bold, here’s bold fer ya… Lotus and Kovalainen for 2010 WC.

Put that in your snorkel and choke on it.

  5. Ha!, Marc has overindulged in Xmas cheer remnants and has an advance march on his New Years’ Eve libations! At least our picks have a semblance of possibility based on some kind of reality.

I also predict that USF1 will finish the schedule in third place of the four newbie teams next year.
