Villeneuve Lands Temp Job

Reports out of France indicate currently unemployed former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve is in line to drive one of Peugeot’s V12 turbo diesels in this years Le Mans event.

Reportedly he will team with Marc Gene and reigning CCWS Champion Sebastien Bourdais in the French manufacturers bid to unseat Audi’s R10 TDI diesel powered juggernaut.

This years Le Mans event takes place the weekend of 16 June. How this impacts his efforts to gain a seat in NASCAR remains to be seen. That same weekend NASCAR’s Cup and Busch Series’ run at Michigan International Speedway, an obvious conflict, if the former F1 champ lands a seat in a tin-top.

On the other hand this may not be a temporary position and an indication Villeneuve has all but thrown in the towel on “Jacques Great Adventure in BubbaLand.”

  1. At one level this is a compliment to the Pug’s expected cometitiveness with their diesel vs the all conquering Audi diesel.

Am I the only one surprised by this. Firstly, Pegeuot is not rolling in cash so what ever appearance fee they are paying wont make a blip on his stash of BAT cash, JV can only be doing this for fun.

Second, at this stage of his career & life, would he really want to risk his tombstone reading? “Died in the dark of night after tripping over an errant, backmarking, thrice lapped, gentleman driver in road-going Porsche on the Muslan straight.

  2. OUCH!

    Engraving potential headstones Peter?

Besides if the Porsche is only thrice lapped it would mean it occurred in the first 30 minutes after the green flag.
