Well, He Was Número Uno for Una Hora

So much for Juan “Latino Piloto is Muy Bueno” Montoya celebrating his first Sprint Cup pole win.

“It’s huge. There’s times where it’s getting darker and cooling down and you run at the end and all of a sudden you pick up a half a second and you’re up there. But we were in the middle of the pack and the track didn’t really change that much. We were genuinely fast.”

I guess Ganassi Racing’s definition of “genuinely fast” is slightly at odds with NASCAR’s Mythical Rulebook.

A post qualifying inspection discovered “Latino Piloto is Muy Bueno’s” rear shock absorbers exceeded the maximum gas pressure allowed.

As a result he goes from Kansas Speedway’s penthouse to NASCAR’s dog house and will start the Ganassi Racing Dodge in the 42nd hole.

Neither Montoya nor the Ganassi team had any immediate comment.

Any comment, no doubt, will be saved for later and some lame excuse like, “It wasn’t intentional, the crew just mal-adjusted the Flux Capacitor,” or something.

Chip Gannasi, enjoy your Homer “D’OH!” Simpson moment.
