Why the Open Wheel Exodus to NASCAR?

With the entry of Juan Montoya, A.J. Allmendinger, Sam Hornish Jr. and possibly Jacques Villeneuve (will that rumor ever die?) to NASCAR much has been written about why.

The answer can be found here, at the Awards Banquet for the Champ Car World Series held this past Saturday evening.

The Frenchman [Sebastien Bourdais] also scored his third Vanderbilt Cup and the $500,000 prize that went along with it, as well as the Hole In The Wall Camps Lap Leader Award, which is given to the driver that leads the most laps of competition over the season. The three-time series champ also earned the season-long Bridgestone Pole Award, leading the series by winning seven of the year

Well, obviously, I would be a money grabbing whore….not too sure about “inserting a Danica bait & switch” but I will try anything once.
