Will My DEI Acronym Be Correct?

As long-time readers know since Dale Jr’s departure from DEI I redefined the company’s DEI acronym from Dale Earnhardt Inc to “Don’t Expect Interest”.

For Teresa Earnhardt’s sake, and assuming rumors are true, she better hope Bear, Stearns & Company actually does find some interest in the company.

Isn’t it ironic, one of the major sticking points that caused the the Junior/Teresa split was over partial ownership for Junior.

Now a year later Teresa is looking at minimum selling part of the company if not the whole shootin’ match!

UPDATE: For the record DEI has denied a sale is in the works… “for now,” is the terminology used. You can take that for what it’s worth I suppose.

  1. if she sells 51%, someone has egg on their face, and a deceased husband is rolling over in the grave. On the other hand, there have been race team after team play out their hand and eventually ’sell out’. And some of them have won the CUP.

  2. I’d say the egg has been on that face far longer than most will admit.

If Teresa had looked in the mirror as far back as the tussle over Dale Jr. legal use of his own name she would have seen the “egg,” but she didn’t then and I bet she won’t now.

  3. Well, I would not have sold 51% to JR at that time, especially at the time of
JR’s career. Even SR didn’t have an option like that with RCR after winning some championships. He had to go start his own team. (and the circle continues)

On the other hand, the ‘control issues’ with the DEI hierarchy may have ultimately been it’s down fall.

  4. Forbes last month estimated DEI’s worth at $109 million. Having already lost Mark Martin, if they lose Truex, lose the Army sponsorship, lose Menards to Yates and can’t find a sponsor for Regan Smith she’ll be lucky to get half that amount.

  5. Regardless of how this ends she will have earned her just rewards. I hope Junior can contain himself when anyone asks his opinion on the geniuses handling of DEI.
